A Heartfelt Thank You from NCAD

Over the past 10 days, the Nodaway County Ambulance District and our NCAD family have experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of Deputy Director Justin Donovan. During this incredibly difficult time, the outpouring of support, kindness, and compassion from our community and the surrounding EMS and fire service has meant more than words can express.

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank all of the mutual aid ambulance services that stepped up to support NCAD and our crews during this time:

• NOMO Ambulance District
• Linn County Ambulance
• Grundy County Ambulance
• Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD)

Your willingness to help cover calls, support our crews, and stand alongside us during such a difficult time will never be forgotten. This is what the EMS family is all about, and we are incredibly grateful for each of you.

I also want to thank every fire department that took the time to show their respect during the procession bringing Justin home from Kansas City. Seeing the departments, firefighters, and communities lining the route was a powerful reminder of the respect Justin earned and the impact he had on so many people. Your presence meant so much to his family, his NCAD family, and everyone who loved him.

I also want to extend my sincere thanks to all the agencies across Nodaway County that stepped up to support me and my crews during this incredibly difficult time. Your willingness to help and stand beside us meant more than you know. I also want to thank the Region H mutual aid coordinators, who took a tremendous burden off our shoulders by organizing the mutual aid ambulances and ensuring we had the support we needed. Your efforts allowed us to focus on our crews, our staff, and our NCAD family during a time of unimaginable loss. Thank you all for your support, compassion, and dedication.

To everyone who has called, sent messages, brought food, offered prayers, provided support, or simply stood beside us over these last 10 days, thank you. Your kindness has helped carry us through some of the hardest days we have ever faced.

Justin was more than a Deputy Director. He was a colleague, a friend, a leader, and a member of our NCAD family. His loss has left a hole in our organization and in the hearts of so many people.

Most importantly, our hearts and prayers remain with Justin’s wife and their two children. No words can truly express how sorry we are for the loss they are facing. Justin was deeply loved, and his family will always be a part of the NCAD family. We will continue to stand beside them, support them, and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Justin will never be forgotten, and neither will the love we have for his family. ❤️

We are grateful to be part of a profession and a community that comes together when it matters most.
